My Vision as a breeder:
"To produce dogs that are eager and able to do the activities for which the breed was intended, and form loving bonds with their people over a long, healthy life."
Read more about what led me to establishing Ablewood kennel, the generous people who helped me along the way, and why I have decided to move my focus from Bernese Mountain Dogs, to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels: My Story
My main focus as a breeder is to make sure that I stay true to the breed standard and contribute positively to the breed overall. I strive to do this through research and participation in Conformation shows, selecting the best prospects in terms of health, temperament, structure, and longevity in the pedigree, carefully informing and screening potential puppy owners, making sure they understand their responsibilities and the suitability of this breed to their expectations, and ensuring that each dog and puppy is raised in a loving, dedicated home. I am here to support my puppy families for the duration of that puppy's life.
No breeding will be undertaken without careful research into pedigrees, health tests, temperament tests, and participation in conformation.
I commit to the following health checks and publish the results. See my health page for more information.

If you are truly interested in a breed it's important to also inform yourself about potential health issues and to ask your breeder what they are doing to screen for your breed's long-term health.
I also show in Conformation to maintain objectivity in assessing structure, movement and temperament as compared to the standard, and as compared to other dogs in the breed.
